CL 1/28

  • the readers are readers of time magazine, non Yankee fans. and they address them as Yankee haters.
  • that america doesn’t need to be involved in other wars or things that dont pertain to them.
  • something they had in common is they both wanted success and freedom he compares the two by saying “people came to america for the same reason that A-rod came to the yankees”.
  • yes, he is using comparisons of Yankees fans and Americans to support his claims.
  • the audience i feel fit best for this piece is the first audience because in the passage they talk about how he tries to use words such as calling us stupid feeding off our emotions. he compares the power of being a winning team and the power it gives them over other teams that are loosing. So as to speak the winning team would be America and with that comes power. he wants to change our minds and attitudes with changing the subject matter to fit a more understanding circumstance. he tells the reader what they should consider.
  • Stein portrays himself as a voice for the under dog or minorities.
  • i believe he was not trying to convince anyone, he is a speaking for those who agree with him and to make them feel they are right. to give them reassurance.
